Hi, i was just wondering how come awesome violinist like Vanessa Mae and others that I watched over youtube, they dont seem to have the same problem that I have with my left hand pressing the strings, I mean I grew some callous already by practicing everyday for almost nearly 2 months on my own. No teacher yet but I do have plan to have private lessons this July.
Any suggestions? BY the way, we dont have any lutheir here or violin craftsman. this is going to end up like a DIY (Do it yourself thing)
THanks

Re: Bridge Height, Adjustment etc
Thu, June 7, 2007 - 5:43 AMI think it's normal for any beginner of a stringed instrument that it takes a while until the finger tips get used to it. Unless you really know what you're doing, I'd rather stay away from modifying the bridge yourself - it's easy to do damage things there.
One thing that could help are lighter strings or strings from a different material. Less tension makes it easier on the fingers. For any further modifications, you should maybe wait until you have a teacher and let him have a look at your violin first.
